The Passion for Olive Oil: Discover Chorro de Oro

In the heart of the Sierra de Segura region, in the picturesque town of  Torres de Albanchez (Jaén), lies the S.C.A. Virgen del Campo cooperative, home to the prestigious extra virgin olive oil «Chorro de Oro.» Since our founding in 1959, we have dedicated every effort to producing the highest quality olive oil, combining tradition and technology to offer our customers the best of our land.

The Perfect Location: Torres de Albanchez

Our cooperative is located at Avenida de Andalucía, 171, in Torres de Albanchez, a town nestled in an unparalleled natural setting within the Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas Natural Park. This mountainous enclave is known for its centuries-old olive groves and its ideal climate for olive cultivation, factors that contribute to the exceptional quality of our oil.

Our Production Process

The production process of our extra virgin olive oil is rigorous and meticulous, ensuring that every bottle of «Chorro de Oro» is a testament to quality and flavor.

  1. AOVE Harvesting: The olive harvest begins in mid-November. The exact date may vary depending on the year’s climate and the olives’ maturity index. This process is guided by the experts from the Sierra de Segura Designation of Origin, who ensure the harvest is done at the optimal time.
  2. Olive Oil Reception: The olives, delivered daily by our members, are sorted by quality and stored in hoppers for immediate milling. Our state-of-the-art machinery allows us to process the olives on the same day, maintaining their freshness and quality.
  3. Milling and Production: The milling is carried out immediately after the olives are received, using modern two-phase machinery at low temperatures. This ensures that both the olives and the oil only come into contact with stainless steel parts, preserving the product’s purity

Our team, composed of experienced professionals, uses the most advanced technology to ensure the traceability and quality of our oils. Every stage of the process is carefully controlled, from the field to the bottle.

Tradition and Innovation

Our cooperative, established in 1959, began operations in 1961 with traditional facilities. Today, we have significantly evolved, boasting modern facilities and state-of-the-art machinery. However, the essence of our tradition remains alive, as our 500 members, including up to the fourth generation of farmers, continue to cultivate the land with the same love and dedication as their ancestors.

Our rainfed olive groves, located in Torres de Albanchez and neighboring towns, produce olives of the picual variety. This type of olive is known for its bitter and spicy flavor, as well as its high oleic acid content, which gives our oils great stability and resistance to oxidation.
